Session 1 | 10:20 AM - 10:50 AM | How Did I Design My First Quality Online Course? This session shares a Psychology Professor’s perspective on the importance of online course design quality and her experience in designing an online course that met all QM standards in Penn State’s internal QM course review. The key to meeting all QM standards was through extensive collaboration with support resources. Attendees will gain practical insight and tips into the successful design and delivery of an instructor’s first online course, learn how to collaborate easily and effectively with support resources throughout the University, and see concrete examples of how the University’s QM course review process helps faculty improve course design quality. Session 3 | 11:50 AM – 12:20 PM | Visual Design and QM – A Deep Look at Standard 2.3 and Module Overview Pages In this session, Instructional Designer Dani McCauley will focus on Standard 2.3 of the QM rubric which is “Learning objectives or competencies are stated clearly, are written from the learner’s perspective, and are prominently located in the course.” Dani will show several examples of module overview pages to highlight how visual design elements and QM can come together to display learning objectives.
